The Three Musketeers In Miami
After Eric's Celebration of Life/Birthday, which was amazing, my Mom, sister and I headed for a short respite to Miami Beach. Eric and I had always wanted to go to Miami but kept putting it off. One thing I've learned this past year, DON'T, PUT ANYTHING OFF! Yes I'm yelling at you, thank you for listening. We stayed at a nice boutique hotel and walked the Main Street to find plenty of restaurants.
It was raining when we landed and it rained the rest of the day we arrived. I almost didn't go, because I fell ill. I had a stuffy nose and cough. I must have caught something while at Eric's Celebration of Life, but I did not have COVID. The next day was beautiful and we headed to the beach. It was nice to get some sun and be near to the ocean. My mom, sister and I stayed at a nice little boutique hotel that provided towels at the beach and an area for it's guest. it was warm and sunny that day. It was wonderful to sit out in the sun and soak up the vitamin D
I was able to spread some of his ashes at the beach for Eric. I mixed some of his ashes with sand to not freak anyone out. It was a nice moment to leave a part of him there. As I stated earlier, we always wanted to go but always put it off, now he's there, just a tiny part of him.
While at the beach, there was waitress from another hotel walking the beach and taking orders for drinks or food. We ordered some drinks and were looking forward to sipping the cocktails and listening to the waves crash. However, before we were able to enjoy our aperitif it started to rain. We had to leave the beach because it started to rain a little harder and as we were leaving we saw the waitstaff who took our order. We went into the hotel grounds and drank our drinks in the rain underneath umbrellas to keep us "dry", which didn't work at all. It was funny though, people were still in the pool. I think that's just Miami.
Speaking of Miami Beach, it's a very unique place. We were in "mid beach" but pretty close to South Beach. I'm glad we finally visited and was able to spread some of Eric's ashes there, but it was not as glamorous as I expected. It was a little 'grungy". Maybe I headed there too late. Maybe it's was the weather but it wasn't what I expected. There is always music being played. It's definitely a party city, most definitely. The hotel we stayed, The Lennox Miami Beach is a boutique hotel. It was nice, but a little tight for the three of us. What I loved was that the hotel had a champagne vending machine. That was very cool, and very expensive. You have to get a token from he front desk to use in the vending machine. At $40 a pop, even though I wasn't feeling well, those champagnes were going to be emptied.
We left in two days. It's funny the driver that brought us to the hotel from the airport, was the same driver that picked us up to take us back to the airport. Will I go back to Miami? I don't think so. It was something on our bucket list and it's been checked.
