Where are we going next?
Ok, you've read about the cancer diagnosis, but our lives are more than that. As I stated previously, we have cancer, cancer does not have us. We are going to see and do as much as we can as long as Eric feels up to it. Here I am, the planner, planning his treatment and key results to planning our short weekend trips, some will be longer than others. Most of them will be long weekends; Barcelona, Paris, Lisbon but Oia Santorini will be longer. We decided to go big or go home....literally back to Atlanta home. Going big is staying at the best hotels that we've dreamed of, we're luxury is the pinnacle of the experience. And be to be able to go the the places that have been on our wish list for such a long time. We decided to travel in August and September, trying to get it in as soon as possible. But it all depends on how Eric feels after chemotherapy treatments. Where do we plan to go and stay? Here's the list:
Barcelona, we decided to do a long weekend there. I've been but it's been 25 yrs. My husband Eric has never been. He's seen shows, such as Rick Steves Europe where he went to Barcelona. And since I haven't been in a generation, it's time to revisit.
We will be staying at the Madison H10 4* Barcelona hotel with the the Gaudi Cathedral, Sagrada Familia views right behind it.
We cannot wait to stay and take pictures on the rooftop pool and restaurant area, do a rickshaw tour and see the sights of the city.
Our next stop is back to Paris, we've been to Paris twice together and want to go back once more. The good thing is we can train it from Amsterdam, 3 hrs, so no airport craziness for Eric. We have loved and dreamed of staying at the Hotel Plaza Athenee. I saw that hotel on "The Devil Wears Prada" and have been longing to stay. We'll do the typical touristy, the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Musee D'Orsay, Sacre Coeur if Eric is up to it.
Then we plan on heading to Lisbon, Portugal in August as well. I've been to Lisbon, but like Barcelona it's been 25 yrs. My girl Vivalyn and I had a blast when we went and I'm sure it's become more exciting. This trip may not happen though. We really want to go, but if Eric isn't feeling up to it, it may not happen. It's on the list though and we've booked a beautiful hotel to stay.
Lastly, Oai Santorini Greece for our Anniversary in September. We plan on renewing our vows and spend a week in this lovely beautiful city of Greece. When we were first married, we wanted to go to Greece for our honeymoon and couldn't swing it financially. Now that we can, we definitely want to go. With it's majestic sunsets, great greek food, calming waters and peaceful days and nights, we want to relax and enjoy each other and the moments. I'm not sure if we're going to do anything there. Maybe a sunset dinner cruise where it's not so difficult for us to get on and off the boat. We're not sure, but we know we'll have a beautiful time renewing our vows in this picturesque place. We are booked to stay at the Maregio Suites and cannot wait to enjoy the views, the breakfast and the wonderful accommodations that we reviewed.
All of the plans completely depends on how Eric is feeling and how the chemo is going with him here in Amsterdam. Our prayer is that he's strong enough to travel and we have a couple of wonderful additional memories to chronicle....stay tuned.
